WINE LEGISLATION IN ANNAPOLIS

Posted by WELLSWEBADMIN

Dear Wine Lover,

The Maryland General Assembly is currently debating legislation that
would allow retailers and wineries to ship directly to Maryland
consumers.  This legislation will die again an untimely death this year,
its 10th in a row, if you and your friends are not able to let your
elected officials know how important this is to you.  SB338
(http://mlis.state.md.us/2009rs/bills/sb/sb0338f.pdf) and HB1262
(http://mlis.state.md.us/2009rs/bills/hb/hb1262f.pdf) will help small
businesses like ours while benefiting consumers and wineries.  Many of
you are represented by Senator Joan Carter Conway (D-43), and she is the
chairwoman of the committee covering this bill.  Please let her know
(800-492-7122, ext. 3145, joan.carter.conway@senate.state.md.us) that
you care about this legislation and want it to be voted upon by the full
MD Senate.

Marylanders for Better Beer & Wine Laws (MBBWL) is the main consumer
advocacy organization pushing this bill forward, and they are seeking as
many letter-writers and callers as possible to get these bills out of
their respective committees.  Please visit their website at
http://www.mbbwl.org for more information and to get involved or contact
MBBWL’s Executive Director, Adam Borden, at (443) 570-8102 or
aborden@mbbwl.org.
