jason hartsfield

Jason Hartsfield, a native of Havre de Grace, Maryland is a graduate of Towson University. He joined Wells in 1998 and became a member of the Wine Staff in 2002. His knowledge of wine has come through numerous tastings, classes, and seminars, as well as day-to-day consulting with his colleagues.

Jason's goal is to be able to help a broad range of consumers by developing knowledge about all aspects of wine. With the vast selections available, choosing wine can be a daunting task. In order to make your experience more enjoyable and less complicated, Jason is dedicated to helping everyone, from novice to connoisseur, choose the right wine. The greatest thing about wine is there is something for everyone. If one particular wine doesn't’ satisfy you then try, try, try, and try again. There are endless possibilities and sampling is half the fun. As Jason likes to say in the *Connoisseur’s Corner, gather friends and family, pop a bottle and enjoy the good things in life. Email Jason for assistance choosing the "perfect" bottle of wine.

*Connoisseur’s Corner is our monthly email newsletter that offers exciting specials on staff selected wines. We encourage you to sign up to receive these newsletters. By joining our newsletter you will receive monthly specials as well as notification of our bi-annual wine sale, tasting dinners, new products (and more), delivered to your inbox.

lee grandes

Lee Grandes is the Principal Wine Consultant at Wells and was destined to work at Wells Discount Liquors. He grew up in nearby Rodgers Forge, went to Towson High, and graduated from Towson State in 1984.

He started working for Wells in 1984, starting out as a stockman. During this time Lee developed a real passion for wine. He took courses in wine, attended many seminars, tasting events, visited local vineyards, and read countless books. Because of his passion and dedication, Lee was promoted from stock to the Wine Staff.

Lee’s goal is to offer the best selection of wine available, along with the best service possible. Drop Lee an email and let him know how he can be of service to you.

Under his guidance the Wine Staff have developed relationships with all the main fine wine importers serving the Maryland market. These relationships allow Wells to be among the first considered for highly allocated items. Although Lee can find wines from any producing region, his heart and palate prefer the traditional, terroir driven wines of France, Italy, and Northern Spain.

tj morton

TJ Morton was born and raised in Baltimore City. He grew up in Homeland, attended Cathedral School, and graduated from Loyola Blakefield. After attending Penn State University for one year, TJ returned home and joined the Well’s team as a stockman in 1999.

With the guidance of the existing wine staff TJ acquired an appreciation for wine. Today, his wine knowledge has grown and matured into a passion. He continues to expand his knowledge base by attending seminars, tastings, and of course, reading everything he can get his hands on.

TJ’s palate is very traditional and he enjoys terroir driven, old world style wines from Italy, and France in particular. He is always willing to help a customer with any question regarding wine, beer, and spirits.
